How do I stay motivated?

As we all probably know, motivation is something that comes and goes. Sometimes it's there and sometimes it's not there at all. Although we can't control motivation, there are certainly things we can do when we can't rely on motivation.

  1. Only do exercises that we find fun: When we are unmotivated, it can be very easy to ignore the training. The first time becomes another time, finally we notice that we haven't trained for a few weeks. Which means that we don't get the result we would like and it will lead to us feeling even more unmotivated. Therefore, a tip might be to go to the gym and only do exercises that we think are fun in order to continue keeping the routines with the training. In the longer term, when motivation returns, we will have already come a long way to our goals.

  2. Change exercises: Sometimes we can be unmotivated because we have been doing the same exercises over a long period. To make it a little more interesting and exciting, we can rearrange our training programs and try new exercises.

  3. Try new exercises: Sometimes we may just need to do a session where there is no performance but just fun and new. It can be a perfect time to try new exercises when we are unmotivated.

  4. Exercise with a friend: Exercising with a friend can be super fun and pushing. When we train together, we can help each other to be inspired and motivated.

Since motivation is so unreliable, it is important not to rely on it, but go to the gym even if we are unmotivated. Here, discipline and routines play a role and what makes us keep going is that we feel unmotivated.
