Tips to sleep better!
Dela
Try to relax for a good while before you go to bed, about 1-2 hours before. This means putting aside work and all chores. Get ready for bed, brush your teeth, shower and then just relax. Sometimes even an evening routine can make the body adjust to sleep. Find a cozy routine that you do every night. Drink a cup of decaffeinated tea with a little milk, take a hot shower. Turn off the light and put on a meditation video and try to breathe to bring your body down. Meditating is very good for relaxing the body, so feel free to try it.
Make sure you get enough daylight as early in the day as possible, try to be outside in daylight for at least 1 hour per day. This helps the body with the melatonin in the evening when it is time to sleep.
Make sure the bedroom is dark and cool. If we have a bedroom that is too bright, loud or warm, it is more difficult to fall asleep, but it can also mean that we do not sleep well if we do fall asleep.
If you have been lying in bed and trying to sleep for a few hours, it may be good to get up for a little while. Go to the bathroom or pour yourself a glass of water and then go back to bed. This can cause the body to start over and you start to feel the fatigue coming on. Sometimes it can also be nice to put on something that you listen to in the background, so you don't focus so much on your thoughts. Birds singing, the wind, rain, waves or someone talking, there's a lot of that on, for example, spotify or youtube. Search for relaxation sounds and you should get a few different variations.
Hope these tips helps and that you get a really good night's sleep!
